DODABETTA VIEW – The term Doddabetta means Big Mountain in Badaga language. It is a combination of two words Dodda meaning big and Betta which means mountain. It satiates the desire of an avid trekker yearning for the best place to trek with its awe-inspiring views. The grandeur of the mountain along with the sub alpine shrubs and shola thickets exudes admiration. There are 24 higher peaks in the Nilgiris and Doddabetta is the highest peak among them. It is frequently visited by travel aficionados interested in outdoor pursuits like trekking and is a top place to visit in Ooty for nature and adventure lovers.
TEA FACTORY – Ooty Tea Factory is situated at the height of 1839 meters in the Nilgiris hills, around 4 kilometres from the centre of the city. The complete factory is established in the area of 1 acre. There is a tea museum, where we can know how the tea is processed using the Cut, Twist, and Curl method. Along with this, we can learn the history and the evolution of Tea. Let's start with knowing the history of tea, which we got to know when we visited the Tea Factory as everything was framed.
WAX MUSEUM – The Wax World contains beautiful statues of Indian freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Gopal Krishna Gokhale among many others. The museum also has wonderful replicas of social figures like Mother Teresa and our former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
BOTANICAL GARDEN – Spread over an area of 55 acres, the Government Botanical Gardens is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after tourist attractions not just in Ooty but in the entire Tamil Nadu. No tourist will leave Ooty without a visit to the well organized, well maintained botanical gardens. It is a famous sightseeing place to visit in Ooty. Maintained by the Horticultural Department of Tamil Nadu, the present-day Botanical Gardens is divided into 5 sections.
ROSE GARDEN – The pride of Ooty lies in the Rose Garden, which belongs to an elite club of 35 rose gardens around the world which has won the Garden of Excellence Award for South Asia from the World Federation of Rose Societies. Containing more than twenty thousand varieties of roses, the Rose Garden is one of the most beautiful and well maintained gardens you find in the country, or perhaps, the world. The climate of Ooty is ideal for the plants to have a long blooming season.
OOTY LAKE BOAT HOUSE – Originally constructed for the purpose of fishing, the lake has become all but an important tourist landmark in Ooty. An evening cycling around the lake (cycles are available for rent), or a quiet morning with your beloved by your side and the lake in front is enough to bring calm to yourself. Originally extending to a much larger area, Ooty Lake has shrunk in size over the years giving way to other structures like the race course.
